Once upon a time, I had a rather sick doggy. She had a lot of “special needs” and was at the vet often. While frequenting the amazing vet clinic, we became friendly with a lot of the staff.
As I was going away for a trip, I happened to ask if any of the staff watched dogs at their homes on the side, since our sweet little Maggie dog wouldn’t be best for a kennel to care for. In pops Joni. After that trip, she watched our dogs here and there and took amazing care of them. Each time we got to know each other a little more. She knew I was a photographer, and I (obviously) knew she worked at a vet and loved animals.
So one day, as I was picking up my dogs, Joni mentions to me that she needed to meet up with me one day to discuss an engagement session. I ask about the wedding and she says something along the lines of “It won’t be local.” I follow up with something like “Well, I love to travel!”
Once we start chatting more about things, I quote her for her Hawaii wedding and she hires me! Her fiance, Xaven, has a lot of family in Hawaii, so they decided to travel away for their wedding AND get their honeymoon in one shot!
Joni and Xaven got married at Bellows Beach on Oahu, Hawaii. This beach is PICTURE PERFECT. No joke. When you picture a Hawaiian beach, this. is. it.
The weather cooperated perfectly, and though it had a few snafus, as all weddings typically do, it was overall, a stunning day for the Mr. & Mrs!
The Hawaiian theme wasn’t over the top, but fit in just splendidly at the location. From the Hawaiian wood ring set, to the beach sandals and fresh leis – it all photographed perfectly.
